Voting will take place via UR Self-Service between April 18th, 2022 and April 19th, 2022 at 11.59 pm. Please see the attachment or visit our website (listed below) to download a nomination package as well as view the constitution and bylaws for a brief description of the positions and responsibilities.

3MT 2021 Winners

The 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition finale results are out. Firstly, kudos to all the Judges, finalists of the 3MT, MC of the event Ethan Williams and the audience for being a part of the event and making it a successful one. 

The winner of the 3MT competition is Whitney Blaisdell - won $1500, and she will represent UofR in the Western Regional 3MT® competition.

Second Place: Zohra Zahir - $1000

Third Place: Angele Poirier - $500

The winner of the People's Choice Award is Shima Aghaaminiha - $500.

Consistent with our constitution, and to maintain a fair and democratic process, the URGSA has appointed Balaji Udayappan–former GSA Vice-president (Academic Affairs 2019-20) as a Chief Returning Officer (CRO). As CRO, Balaji will help ensure that URGSA Constitution and Bylaws are followed and that any disputes and conflicts are resolved with fairly according to the constitution and by-laws.

It's finally here.

The biggest GSA event of the year.

It's time for 3MT!


Thank you to everyone for your patience as we finalized all the details for this year's event. Here's what you need to know:

WHO? Any graduate student with a research project, no matter the stage of your research. Even if you're just starting out, we'd love to have you compete!

WHAT? The 3MT competition is held in universities around the world. Participants are challenged with the task of condensing their research into a three-minute speech. For those who have never participated in a 3MT before, it’s a great opportunity to come up with an “elevator pitch” on your research. For information click here…

WHEN/WHERE? The deadline the participate in the heats is Tuesday, February 23 at 8:00 AM. You need to both register and submit a video to benjamin.freitag@uregina.ca prior to Feb 23. We recommend sending them via Filr (link is provided below) as most videos are too large for email.

Judging for the heats will not be live and will be conducted after the 23rd by the staff of the U of R. Winners from each heat will be invited to compete in the finals, which are open to the public; so, come learn about all the incredible research being conducted by your fellow U of R graduate students! Please note - this year's finals will not be televised on Access Communications but will stream live on URGSA Facebook page.

2019 AGM

Come check out this year’s annual general meeting!

Date: Monday, April 8, 2019
Time: doors open at 4.30 pm, meeting from 5 - 6 pm
Location: The Owl Multipurpose Room,
Incentive: FREE PIZZA, POP, COFFEE, and COOKIES, DOOR PRIZES, and the opportunity to participate in GSA governance and meet the incoming executives!


The AGM is an opportunity for graduate students at the University of Regina to be directly updated on the activities of the GSA over the course of the past academic year and to vote on motions that will guide the future of the GSA moving forward. In order to have an effective AGM, we are required to meet quorum. Therefore, please add the AGM to your calendar and please come on out with all of your graduate student friends. It's a chance to hang out with your friends and enjoy the company and food.
